Trip From Marrakech To The Sahara Desert

Day 1 : Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades gorges

On the first day of your trip to Marrakech, you will begin by visiting Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This former Berber fortress is one of the finest examples of Moroccan architecture. You can admire its earthen walls and towers that stand proudly on the surrounding hills. You can also visit the Cinema Museum, which houses memorabilia from films shot in the region. Then, you will leave for the Gorges du Dades, where you can admire the spectacular landscapes of the High Atlas mountains. You can also stop to admire the Berber villages and their earthen houses.

Day 2 : Dades gorges – Todra – Erfoud – Merzouga

On the second day of your trip, you will explore Tinghir and the Todra Gorge. Visit the city of Erfoud and the desert of Merzouga. You will be able to admire the spectacular landscapes of the gorges and enjoy the sunsets over the desert sands. You will also have the opportunity to discover the local culture and meet the inhabitants of the Berber villages. Take advantage of the proposed activities, a camel ride to reach the camp in the dunes where you will spend the night.

day 3 : Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – palm grove

Wake up early in the morning is a must do, in order to contemplate the beautiful sunrise, in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you return on camels to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We dedicate the day to explore the region of Merzouga. The area has so many incredible sites, from sand dunes, wild lake, mines, fossils areas to fabulous oases. Which are ideal places for so many outdoor activities.
Firstly we start our journey in Merzouga, by driving off-road to visit an ancient eveliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit, in their handmade woven tent. Learn how they live while drinking a Berber tea. Our next destination is the Khamlia village, where you will enjoy the Gnaoud music, and dancing performances. Its inhabitants are originating from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan and Niger. Free time for lunch in a restaurant.
After that we take a stroll in palm trees grove.
Then drive a few kilometres to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also called flamingos lake. Dinner and overnight In a hotel.

Day 4 : Merzouga – Zagora

On the fourth day of your Sahara trip, you will leave the desert to head to the Zagora palm grove desert. You will cross varied landscapes, sand dunes, oases and mountains. You will be able to admire the changing colors of the desert and the magnificent landscapes available to you. Visit Berber villages and ksours, ancient forts built by the Berbers to protect themselves from invasions. You can also discover the Berber culture and its traditions. Arrive at Zagora palm grove, where you can admire the palm trees that border the desert and enjoy the coolness of the oasis. You can also visit the ancient ruins of Zagora and discover its remains. Night in hotel.

Day 5 : Zagora – Agdez – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

You will start your day by visiting the Kasbah of Agdz, a historical and cultural site located at the entrance to the Sahara Desert. You can admire the dry earth walls and thatched roofs that characterize this unique architecture. Then continue your journey to Zagora, where you can discover the wonders of the desert. You can admire the sand dunes, oases and mountains that surround the city. You will continue your journey to Ouarzazate. We cross the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, you will arrive in Marrakech.
